Check out how we created a Workflow in Project Delta 14 using an existing Workflow and how we created our own Custom Workflow, Chi 1.1 Workflow, by combining three Tools to make up this Workflow.
Quick Access to launch Jobs
In this preview we will see how to use the Quick Access functionality on MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ to launch and complete Jobs quickly and easily.
The user can launch a Tool (or Workflow) Job through the Quick Access functionality. This can be launched in either a new Project or in an existing Project.
Once the Job is launched, the user is shown an Input Form where he/she can choose any of the Preset parameters, any of the Input parameters from previous Jobs or the Default parameters. The user can then change the parameters manually and launch the simulation activity.
Once the Job is successfully completed, the Outputs of the Job are automatically generated, inclusive of plots. Furthermore, the Input and Output summary, the Output Files and the All Tool Files can all be downloaded to the user's computer.
Quick Access to launch Workflows
In this preview we will watch MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ's Quick Access functionality to create Workflows.
The Quick Access functionality enables to run Workflows (or Jobs) in either a new Project or in an existing Project. The user launches the Workflow where he/she is taken to the Input Form of the simulation activity. Here, the user can choose the Inputs for the activity: any from the Presets, any from the Inputs from previous Jobs or the Defaults, and then the user can change the parameters manually.
Workflows comprise of more than one Tool, where an upstream Tool's Outputs may be a downstream Tool's Inputs. This means that one Job needs to be completed before the other can launch.
Once the Job is successfully completed, Outputs complete with plots and graphs are displayed. The user can also download the Input and Output summary, the Output Files and the All Tool Files directly on his/her computer.
Comparing Jobs, Workflows, Scenarios
In this sneak preview we can see how to compare Jobs, Workflows and Scenarios using MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ.
Users can compare Jobs, Workflows, Scenarios using the Compare Jobs/Workflows/Scenarios functionality. Users can choose what to compare by selecting the Tool, Workflow or Scenario and choose which to filter. You can compare only completed Jobs or also include non-completed Jobs. Depending on the visibility of the Projects, one can also choose between those Jobs, Workflows and Scenarios that are created by the User as well as those created by other Users.
Comparison takes place side-by-side and with difference highlighting so that the User can clearly identify the differences between Jobs, Workflows and Scenarios. If a Job, Workflow or Scenario has not been completed yet, the Comparison section will inform the User. One can immediately see the Inputs and Outputs including visuals such as plots, graphs and overlaid plots. One can also tick or untick which Jobs, Workflows, Scenarios to compare. Furthermore, one can also download the Input and Output summary, the Output File as well as the All Tool Files directly on his/her computer in one easy step.
Creating a new User, a new Team and a New Access Rights Group
In this sneak peak we are watching how to Create a new User, a New Team and a New Access Rights Group, including how to assign permissions to the new Group, using MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ, the software-agnostic Simulation Process and Data Management software that truly delivers.
Creating a new User is easy. Simply go to Add/Edit User on MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ and insert the details of the new User, as well as choose the Access Rights Group of the new User and the Team which the User forms part of. In this section you can also choose to make the new User a Simulator Approver as well as disable his/her logon. There are a number of ways to check that the new User has been successfully completed and one of them is to quickly go to Edit User where you can scroll through the drop-down list to see the newly created User. In this section you can also change any details and settings of any User.
Creating a new Team is quick and easy. Simply go on Edit teams, groups & permissions in MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ and enter the name of the new Team. By clicking on Add Team you create your new Team. In this section you can also add a new Access Rights Group. MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ comes with four default Groups. These are Super User, Administrator, Regular User and Beta Tester, however you can add more. Simply add the new Access Rights Group and then go on Access Rights Permissions tab to assign Permissions to the new Group. Here you can also edit any Permissions to existing Access Rights Groups.
Set Users and Teams for Simulation Approvals
In this sneak peak of MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ, our Simulation Process and Data Management software, we are watching how to set Users to be Simulation Approvers, as well as setting Tools to require a Simulation Approval before running.
Setting a User to be a Simulator Approver is very easy. Simply go on Add/Edit User, find the User from the drop-down list and click to change his/her settings. You can also enable a new User to be the Simulator Approver when you are adding the User to MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ.
Tools can be set to require a Simulation Approval, so that any Jobs and Workflows that run using such Tools will need to be approved before they can run. This can be done by going on New/Edit Tool, filter the Tool in question and simply change setting. Here you can also choose from the drop-down list of Simulator Approvers, who from the list of Approvers you would like to be in charge of approving Simulations for this Tool.
Once a User uses the Tool for a Simulation Job or Workflow, a message will show up saying that the Job requires approval. The Simulator Approver will receive an email that he/she has Simulation Approval requests. Once the Simulation Approver approves the requests the Jobs will run automatically without any further intervention from the requestor. The Simulation Approver can also decide to cancel the request.
Creating New Tables, New Rows and New Columns
In this sneak peak of our Simulation Process and Data Management software, MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ, we are watching how to add a new Table, Row or Column to your Database.
To add a new Table simply go to Manage Database functionality and choose Create a New Table. In this section you will need to complete the details about the Table that you would like to create, such as giving a name to your Table, choosing the number of Columns that you need, the Name for your Columns, as well as the Column Types for the Columns in your Table. MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ comes with seven default Column types. These are Integer, Text, Real, Numeric, Boolean, Date and DateTime. In this section you also have the option to add a Foreign Key and therefore choosing the number of Foreign Keys that you want, the Foreign Key Column in the new Table, the Reference Table as well as the Reference Column.
You can also add a Row to an existing Table or else the one you have just newly created. Simply choose the Table and Add a new Row, inserting the details of the new Row for each Column in the Table, according to the Column Type of each specific Column.
To add a new Column, choose an existing Column from the drop-down menu of existing Tables. Choose a name for your new Column as well as the Column Type and decide whether to insert a value in the corresponding row of the new Column, in which case you will also need to insert a value. If you decide not to give a value to the row, then the Column will still be created but won't have any values in it.
A quick and easy way to see your newly created Table in full, completed with added Rows and Columns, is to go to the Database Explorer functionality of MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ and select the Table to explore, from the drop-down menu. Here you can also use the filters to filter through the Table, if you like!
Edit Tools and Workflows including Files
Today's sneak peek of MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ, the software-agnostic Simulation Process and Data Management software, is about editing a Tool and Workflow, including files, directly from the interface.
To edit a Tool using MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ, simply go on New/Edit tool functionality, choose the Tool that you would like to edit and edit the required details and settings. In this video we have changed the Teams who have access to the Tool as well as the status of the Tool from New to Released. By default Super Users and Administrators see all Tools irrespective of the Team chosen as well as the status of the Tool. However this is not the case for a Regular User who will have access to the Tool only if the Tool is set to Released and if the relative Team is selected. The same goes for a Beta Tester who will see the Tool only when the Tool is in Testing status as well as when the relative Team is selected. In this section, in the tab Edit File you can choose any input/output file, any static file or any preset file, whether that is an existing one or by uploading a new one, and make the necessary changes to the file, directly on the interface!
The same goes for Workflows. Workflows can be edited in the New/Edit Workflow by choosing the Workflow to edit and make the necessary changes. For Workflows, similarly to Tools, you can edit the existing and new Workflow Files directly on the Interface, by making the changes, validating and saving!
My Jobs / Workflows and Job Search
This sneak peek of MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ, the software-agnostic Simulation Process and Data Management software, shows how to use My Jobs/Workflows functionality as well as the Job Search functionality.
My Jobs/Workflows functionality allows you to browse through Projects, Scenarios and Tools, simply by selecting any Project, Scenario or Tool that you wish to view, or else by choosing the Job ID from a drop-down list of Job IDs. In this section you can see both completed Jobs/Workflows as well as non-completed ones and for the latter you can choose your input parameters and run these on the spot to complete them!
For your Jobs/Workflows you can choose your parameters which can range from Presets, Inputs from previous Jobs, Defaults as well as changing the parameters manually, as desired. Workflows comprise of more than one tool, and in case of an upstream model, the outputs generated, may be the inputs of a downstream model, therefore one job must be completed for the other one to launch.
The Job Search functionality in Home also allows you to explore the various completed and non-completed Jobs and Workflows too complete with analytics. Simply search the Jobs/Workflows by choosing the Tool and then filter as needed, or you can choose to see all of them. The filter option allows you to change any parameter and filter accordingly, including to choose the desired numeric value % range of the parameters to filter. The filtered Jobs will be displayed immediately as you change the filter and parameters. You can select Jobs by ticking next to them and then go to the Explore tab, where you can see the Job Results/Outputs, inclusive of plots, graphs, input and output details. You can also download the Input and Output summary file, the Output Files and the All Tool Files directly on your computer in a single click!
Usage Statistics
Here we are watching a sneak preview of Usage Statistics using MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ, the software-agnostic Simulation Process and Data Management software.
Usage Statistics functionality in MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ shows you information about the Software usage, such as Projects, Scenarios, Jobs, Registered Users, Users with Logon Rights, Overall Tool Usage, Usage by Team, Total Usage Over Time and Usage by Users.
Furthermore, in this section you can filter by all Tools or a specific Tool, by all Teams or a specific Team or else by all Access Rights Groups or a specific Access Rights Group. You can also use the filters to choose a specific time period. This can be by date range, where you can choose a Start Date and an End Date as well as by a chosen number of past weeks or months. Upon changing the filters the visuals and information will change automatically and immediately.
And because MATOFX SPDMᵀᴹ is fully customisable you can add even more usage analytics to this!
